carolclimb fishing at Cogra Moss

Carol and Richard fish at Cogra Moss on a regular basis, so you can benefit from their wealth of knowledge and experience.

Cogra Moss is a 40 acre naturalised reservoir which overlooks the Solway Plain and Scotland from it's idyllic setting near Felldyke, Lamplugh. This is the best stocked game stillwater in West Cumbria, well managed - and well stocked by Cockermouth Angling Association with good quality rainbows. The average size of the fish is over a pound and a half with a fair sprinkling of larger specimens to 8lbs. Wild brown trout are also present and can reach a good size with fish in the 2-3lb bracket landed each year.

The water fishes well to imitative patterns and dries especially in late spring and early summer when the ever present breeze carries plenty of terrestrials on to the water.

Access is possible all around most of the fishery and in places there are a number of fishing piers (sub surface). It is possible to fish from the bank but waders will give you better access.

Car Parking is available on the track alongside the shore, and fish are regularly caught close to the parking.

A Nice brace of rainbows each. Car access. Cogra can be windy. Nice 4lb rainbow for Carol 2011.
