I started fishing at about the age of 6 accompanying my father as we fished the Ribble and Hodder around Clitheroe, catching brown trout, chubb and grayling but hoping for that elusive sea trout or salmon. He taught my brother and I to fly fish and also to enjoy and respect the countryside and its wild life. Summer holidays saw us following my father and Uncle around the rivers of Scotland in search of 'seatrout'. Which was the start of a passion that we have persued for over forty years, and that I in turn have passed on to my own sons. Having fished the rivers of Dumfries and Galloway as a boy I returned to live on the Border Esk in the 80's and have fished it for sea trout and salmon for the past 20 years. Working for a number of years for Broomholm Estates as Fishery Manager / Ghillie. Where I have intoduced many people to my real passion, fly fishing in the black of night for sea trout.
